NISMAT Runners Performance Clinic

The Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma was the world’s first hospital-based facility committed solely to the study of sports medicine, and has since played a key role in advancing the field and redefining its focus. The physical therapists at NISMAT treat a wide array of individuals, including recreational and competitive runners.

The staff at NISMAT is excited to announce the establishment of our first Running Performance Program. This program is designed for runners and multisport athletes of all ages and skill levels. Our program will provide your patients with an in-depth analysis of his/her running, with the goal of preventing injuries and improving performance.

The client’s first visit to our Running Performance Program will begin with an evaluation of their medical history, muscle strength and flexibility, posture, as well as other key performance factors. Following the examination, a physical therapist will record the client’s gait with a high-definition video and use motion analysis software to analyze the client’s running mechanics. Each client will leave with an individualized report, providing recommendations to improve performance and decrease risk of injury. After completion of the runner’s evaluation, the client will be invited to return for a complimentary 6-week follow-up to re-evaluate performance.
