Catherine O’Mahoney, DPT

Physical Therapist

Catherine “Catie” O’Mahoney, DPT, is a physical therapist at Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma (NISMAT). She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from New York Medical College in Westchester, NY. She completed a clinical rotation at NISMAT during graduate school, which furthered her interest in sports orthopedic physical therapy. She specializes in the treatment of orthopedic and sports-related injuries, including rehabilitation after surgery and is knowledgeable on a variety of sports related injuries. Catie has years of experience volunteering in the medical tents for the TCS NYC Marathon and volunteering in the athletic training room during college. Catie also certified in Rock Tape Level 1 FMT Basic for kinesiology taping.  She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the New York Physical Therapy Association.

Catie is originally from San Francisco, CA and obtained her B.A. at the University of California, Berkeley, where she played Division I Lacrosse. She moved to New York to complete her graduate studies for physical therapy. She has a strong background in athletics from her experiences playing a variety of sports throughout her life including lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, basketball, and weight lifting. She enjoys working with athletes of all backgrounds. She co-founded the post-collegiate women’s lacrosse program at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. Since living in NY, she occasionally plays lacrosse with the New York Athletic Club.
